Be A Meditator-Meditate to connect with the universe
The other day, I found my father, Dadhish Chandra Asthana's one of the rare pictures from the archive. In the picture, he is standing at extreme right place in the third row from the bottom. This picture was taken 71 years ago in 1955.
Today, 18 March 2026, he would have been 126 years old.
My father was born on 18 March 1905 in the district of Kheeri Lakhimpur (UP). He lost his father ( Saheb Ram) at the age of 14. He was the third son out of five brothers and one sister. He supported the family by taking tutions in the morning, teaching at a school during the daytime. In the evening, he studied law at Lucknow University. After completing his LLB, he started practising law under the guidance of his mama ( maternal uncle) at Basti (UP). He practised law for 20 years in Basti.1929-1949. Then he practised law for another 19 years in Allahabad from 1949 to 1968. where he saw many ups and downs. After that, we moved to Delhi.
My father was a great orator, delivered motivating speeches during II WW at various political platforms, a great patriot. Ex-PM Lal Bahadur Shastri was his classmate. But my father never joined active politics.
My father was a brilliant lawyer, gifted orator. He was a man of deep learning, who studied English, Urdu and Persian at graduation level. He learnt Hindi reading with his mother, "RAMCHARITMANAS" (a famous scripture written by Goswami Tulsidas).

Meditation Right here and now
There are many of us who want to meditate. But they say, there is no time, there is too much disturbance, and I am not in the right frame of mind to meditate. Is it possible to meditate with so many activities going on around us? Maybe yes.
We can find a place for ourselves within the house, where we can spend some time by ourselves. Something like, behind the door, in the sitting room, dining room, facing away from everything else.
We can meditate out of the house too, in a marketplace, or in the office during the tea or lunch break. It sounds too optimistic, but it is possible. Just close your eyes anywhere, and the surroundings will disappear. Observe your breath. You would find the agitation in your mind and body settling down.
The art of Meditation is to cultivate Meditation right here and now Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- As we continue with our meditational practice
The functioning of the mind is divided into four components. Manas ( sensory mind), Buddhi (inner witness), Chitta( memory), Ahamkara ( self-identity). As manas is calmed, buddhi awakens. Buddhi calms mental agitation, which is caused by the unconscious mind having a lot of distractions. Imagination is relaxed, and restful concentration is established, bringing ordinary awareness into the present moment. As meditation deepens, certain things are set aside in order to clear the way for restful concentration. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A Meditator- Seek to meditation when there is thin line between right and wrong
"Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if no one is doing it." Yes, at times, there is a very thin line between right and wrong. And we need to be very careful before deciding which is right and which is the wrong path. Under such circumstances, wait for some time and meditate. While meditating, just meditate and do not start evaluating the issue. The clarity will appear on its own. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A Meditator- Meditation is a focussed and ritualised, practice of attention
One day, while in school. We gathered around our physics sir outside class on a bright sunny day. He had a convex lens in his hand focussing on a white paper. Soon, we saw that the paper started burning at the focal point of the lens. Nothing would have happened if the lens had just been kept on the paper. Meditation is a focused and ritualistic practice of attention. The ritualistic vibrations of a meditator are like light rays converging at the focal point of the mind and enhancing the power of attention, soon mind starts calming down. Also, making meditation more powerful and effective. Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Deep meditational experience, losing awareness of time
Think of the days when we started meditating. If we have taken a call of say fifteen or twenty minutes of meditation. A number of times, a thought might appear about how much time is left. The meditator is thinking about time again and again. But when we have not fixed a time limit, then sometimes it may happen that after thinking about time several times, we reach a stage where we lose track of time. This is a deep meditational experience. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A meditator- Be passionately in the present moment
It is quite likely that the bird is holding on to the branch and thinking whether it can fly or not. The moment we start thinking about whether we can do it or not. We cease forever to be able to do it. Meditation can guide us to have faith in ourselves and be passionately present in the moment. It can motivate us to become like a bird, expand our wings. learn new things, and fly as high as we can. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A Meditator- Heal your mind, body and soul through colours
A lot of us have grown up seeing black and white TV change to coloured TV, black and white pictures to coloured pictures. Why do we prefer coloured things? Colours have a very important role to play in our lives. Starting from growth and nourishment, we need sunlight, which is a combination of seven rainbow colours with different energies. Chakras in our body are also associated with particular colours. To enhance the effectiveness of our chakras, some people might decorate their space with a specific colour or seek them out in nature. Meditation makes it easier to receive these vibrational flows. Go out in nature and enjoy these colours or seek them within. Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator-Aura around your body
We have often heard about the aura around our bodies. According to spiritual beliefs, an aura or human energy field is a coloured emanation that is said to enclose us. Scientifically, the heart-like brain generates a powerful electromagnetic field with each contraction extending outside the body. This electrical field can be measured in an electrocardiogram ( ECG). Can we feel the aura around our bodies? almost an imaginary thought. But during meditation, when the mind quiets down, we can feel our own heartbeat and blood circulation, also sensations on our skin. Our emotions and experiences are said to have an impact on our aura. If we spend more time focusing our attention on the aura, which is a portion of our divine self or soul, we would feel less pain and hardship. Regular meditation can help us focus on our aura. Be a Meditator- Put your whole mind to open the reservoir of energy.
One may not even realise that in the fast pace and hectic schedules, most of us keep a base level of anxiety and stress in the new norm of life. But the tendency to get sucked into the past and the future can leave us perpetually worn out and feeling out of touch with ourselves. To be with ourselves, whenever we are doing something. We must put our whole minds into it. Meditate to strengthen our capacity to open the reservoir of energy. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A Meditator- The sun of love and compassion, rises every morning in meditation
What is so special about morning meditation, and how to do it? One way is to focus on our breath and clear our minds of worries. Generate awareness of the sensations of breathing. Notice the sensation around our hearts. We may feel a sense of warmth, openness, and tenderness. Continue to focus on our breath. Imagine that we are extending a golden light that holds our warm feelings from the centre of our hearts. Imagine that golden light reaches out to our loved ones and the universe, bringing peace and happiness to everyone. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Heaven --Hell and meditation
It is said that 108 defilements or destructive forces exist in our minds. Anger and are amongst those 108. Each of these 108 destructive forces harms us and causes only ourselves to suffer. When we have peace and compassion in our minds, we are experiencing Heaven. Meditate to experience heaven. Keep Meditating Compiled by NEERA

Be A Meditator- Let inhalation and exhalation happen naturally during meditation
Many a time we think. "Am I observing my breath in the right way? Why is my mind wavering during meditation? How do I focus on my breath?" The revered gurus say, "Do not try to stop yourself from thinking. Just practice concentrating on your breath." Of all the automatic processes our body does, only a few are controllable. Breathing is one of them. We can both observe ourselves breathing and also control our breath. This enables a wonderful opportunity for the strengthening of the body-mind connection. However, let inhalation and exhalation happen naturally during meditation, like the trough and crest of ocean waves. Keep Meditating Write-up NEERA
