'Meditation is quietening of human noise', so say all the revered teachers. When we start meditating, all physical activities are supposed to have stopped, and only the mind is active. The mind is very complex and very tricky. It makes simple things complicated. How can we get detached from the tricks of the mind? We can start with awareness. Awareness of every part of our body culminates in quietening of the mind. The body starts relaxing, and we are no longer attached to the mind. Then we may see some miracles of awareness. That is, without saying anything, without doing anything, it simply dissolves all that is negative in us into all that is beautiful. Like a wonderful opportunity to MEET a deeper insight. Embrace Emptiness with Meditation
Once a large project or undertaking is over, it is natural to feel empty. It may also occur after a major goal has been achieved, a long journey, a sudden reduction in responsibilities upon retirement or when a child leaves for college. In such times, it is natural to feel empty, and we generally fill this emptiness by turning to food, television, or other substitutes which do not fill the emptiness.

Spiritual Search is like a jump into the Unknown
Sometimes we come across events such as sky divers jumping down from a helicopter. Before the jump, it is impossible to know that you will be safe and it will be thrilling; similarly, the spiritual search is an adventure walking into the unknown terrain. It is natural to be fearful when we encounter the unknown. A new adventure, a new idea, a new realization that shifts old thinking and we can hesitate to continue our journey. Meditation helps us see our experience clearly and this helps us continue to make progress. Keep Meditating.

Nothing remains same from one moment to another.
Most of us spend our lives collecting the choicest of things. Hold on to the people and possessions we love. Some of us think adventure is risky. It is sometimes hard to cross that bridge, try something new, or make that change, but once we do, we realise that things are usually never as bad as we imagine. However, nothing remains the same from one moment to another. We must learn to change as life changes. Regular practice of meditation can help us realise it. Keep Meditating

Embrace our worries, our fear, our anger
It's true, no one ever solved a situation by panicking. No one ever solved an issue by refusing to hear new answers, no one ever solved a problem by shutting themselves off. Anger, fears and worries are nothing more than an outward expression of hurt and frustration created in our minds. If we can take charge of our minds, we can create blissfulness. Meditation can help us embrace our fears, anger, and worries. Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Accept this moment exactly as it is
Think of a drive-through of an unknown terrain. We always manage to steer clear of whatever comes our way. In the present times, even the GPS is not able to tell if there is any ditch on the road or if the road is blocked, maybe because of some repair work. At such junctures, we are unable to drive on. We have to just wait and be patient and do the needful. In the same way, we should accept this moment as it is. Observe our breath as we drive through this moment. Keep Meditating

Meditate to Shed Ego
The first question that comes to our minds is, do I have an ego? Maybe, if we get angry at loved ones, if we feel the need to prove that I am right, if there is a feeling of insecurity or a sense of jealousy. Ego hides behind the opinion that appears genuine.

The other day, I found my father, Dadhish Chandra Asthana's one of the rare pictures from the archive. In the picture, he is standing at extreme right place in the third row from the bottom. This picture was taken 71 years ago in 1955.
Today, 18 March 2026, he would have been 126 years old.
My father was born on 18 March 1905 in the district of Kheeri Lakhimpur (UP). He lost his father ( Saheb Ram) at the age of 14. He was the third son out of five brothers and one sister. He supported the family by taking tutions in the morning, teaching at a school during the daytime. In the evening, he studied law at Lucknow University. After completing his LLB, he started practising law under the guidance of his mama ( maternal uncle) at Basti (UP). He practised law for 20 years in Basti.1929-1949. Then he practised law for another 19 years in Allahabad from 1949 to 1968. where he saw many ups and downs. After that, we moved to Delhi.
My father was a great orator, delivered motivating speeches during II WW at various political platforms, a great patriot. Ex-PM Lal Bahadur Shastri was his classmate. But my father never joined active politics.
My father was a brilliant lawyer, gifted orator. He was a man of deep learning, who studied English, Urdu and Persian at graduation level. He learnt Hindi reading with his mother, "RAMCHARITMANAS" (a famous scripture written by Goswami Tulsidas).

Meditation Right here and now
There are many of us who want to meditate. But they say, there is no time, there is too much disturbance, and I am not in the right frame of mind to meditate. Is it possible to meditate with so many activities going on around us? Maybe yes.
We can find a place for ourselves within the house, where we can spend some time by ourselves. Something like, behind the door, in the sitting room, dining room, facing away from everything else.
We can meditate out of the house too, in a marketplace, or in the office during the tea or lunch break. It sounds too optimistic, but it is possible. Just close your eyes anywhere, and the surroundings will disappear. Observe your breath. You would find the agitation in your mind and body settling down.
The art of Meditation is to cultivate Meditation right here and now Keep Meditating

As we continue with our meditational practice
The functioning of the mind is divided into four components. Manas ( sensory mind), Buddhi (inner witness), Chitta( memory), Ahamkara ( self-identity). As manas is calmed, buddhi awakens. Buddhi calms mental agitation, which is caused by the unconscious mind having a lot of distractions. Imagination is relaxed, and restful concentration is established, bringing ordinary awareness into the present moment. As meditation deepens, certain things are set aside in order to clear the way for restful concentration. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Seek to meditation when there is thin line between right and wrong
"Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if no one is doing it." Yes, at times, there is a very thin line between right and wrong. And we need to be very careful before deciding which is right and which is the wrong path. Under such circumstances, wait for some time and meditate. While meditating, just meditate and do not start evaluating the issue. The clarity will appear on its own. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA

Be A Meditator- Meditation is a focussed and ritualised, practice of attention
One day, while in school. We gathered around our physics sir outside class on a bright sunny day. He had a convex lens in his hand focussing on a white paper. Soon, we saw that the paper started burning at the focal point of the lens. Nothing would have happened if the lens had just been kept on the paper. Meditation is a focused and ritualistic practice of attention. The ritualistic vibrations of a meditator are like light rays converging at the focal point of the mind and enhancing the power of attention, soon mind starts calming down. Also, making meditation more powerful and effective. Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Deep meditational experience, losing awareness of time
Think of the days when we started meditating. If we have taken a call of say fifteen or twenty minutes of meditation. A number of times, a thought might appear about how much time is left. The meditator is thinking about time again and again. But when we have not fixed a time limit, then sometimes it may happen that after thinking about time several times, we reach a stage where we lose track of time. This is a deep meditational experience. Keep Meditating Write-up by NEERA
